By Air
Austin is located in south central Texas and served by a major, international airport. Recently named one of the world’s best airports, Austin Bergstrom International Airport, ABIA, offers non–stop flights to 36 destinations around the United States and is served by 10 airlines. Local bands perform live music during happy hour. Some of Austin’s most popular restaurants and stores can also be found at the airport.
By Car
Once you’ve arrived in Austin, navigating your way around town is easy and straight forward. ABIA is just 8 miles from downtown Austin and the AT&T Executive Education and Conference Center. All major car rental agencies are located at ABIA. With the AT&T Executive Education and Conference Center centrally located on the south end of the UT campus, you will find so many places within walking distance that you may not need a car.
By Bus, Shuttle, or Taxi
Public transportation is provided by Capital Metro. Super Shuttle service is available, with average one–way fare to downtown Austin at about $12. Cabs are convenient and plentiful, located outside the airport’s downstairs baggage claim area. Average cab fare to downtown Austin is about $30. International Travelers
The sites http://www.unitedstatesvisas.gov & http://travel.state.gov
have information about obtaining a visa for those traveling to the
United States. Both sites have links to websites for U.S. embassies and
consulates worldwide. The embassy and consulate websites have very
helpful information about procedures, timelines, communities served,
required documentation, and fees.

International registrants should be particularly aware and careful about
visa requirements, and should plan travel well in advance. All visa
inquiries must be handled by ACM Headquarters. Please send your request for a
letter in support of a visa application to supportletters@acm.org
include your name, mailing address, and fax number, as well as the name
of the conference you are attending. (Authors of papers/posters should
also include the title). Please note that ACM does not issue formal
"letters of invitation" to any of its conferences.
